Let's make some bets
In the (tweets deleted) past, I was super critical of Uber, Tesla, and the general Crypto ecosystem because of a very important factor: The People Running Them Were Assholes. There are some other more objective ways to measure the future performance of companies, but it seems to work pretty well in the long run. In a bull run, everyone is a fan; in a downturn, you better learn to be nice.
So let’s make a few more bets:
- Tether will finally de-peg like others before it. Most alt-coins have already lost more than 90% of their peaks, but soon the Blue Chip Coins will go bust too. “No matter how far you fall, you can always fall another 100%.”
- As a result, MicroStrategy will finally have their margin call. Saylor has managed to turn a pretty decent business (Note: they were my first and third jobs out of college) into a pseudo-Bitcoin ETF. I wonder what company will take over that building in Tysons. Capital One might need it for overflow.
- Twitter will be sold and/or implode. Too many folks with Very Important Roles have left, but also if you cut half the company, there’s gonna be a few engineers that were holding their fingers in the leaky dam that are now gone. Maybe PIF will buy the smoldering remains.
- Elon and Tesla’s net worth will plummet. I don’t know if it’ll be related to Twitter or the rest of the car industry catching up or SEC fraud investigations. But there’s too many things in play for it to last long as The Biggest Market Cap car company. SpaceX will be fine/purchased by a Boeing type.
- Republicans won’t win in 2024. Too many assholes in the same kitchen.
- Facebook, sorry, Meta will be split up.
- Red Bull F1 won’t dominate this era. Christian Horner? Big asshole energy.
- Barstool will somehow also implode. The whole thing is made out of assholes.
I’m sure I’ll think of some more, but honestly it seems very easy? Just bet on nice people, and against assholes. It’s the right thing to do and usually works out pretty dang well.
Danny
P.S. The FTX chief regulatory officer was behind the cheating scandals during the Online Poker Boom. Again, bet against assholes.
